William Boyd Murphy (Bill) passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020, after a long battle with cancer due to his exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam.
Due to COVID-19, there will be a limited visitation at Monroe County Memorial Chapel, 86 West Main Street, Forsyth, GA 31029 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2020, and then a private burial at Forsyth City Cemetery. Rev. Debbie Lefevers will officiate.
Bill was born in Forest Park, Georgia, October 3, 1945. His parents Lucian and Frances Murphy preceded him in death.Survivors include his wife of thirty-one years, Jane Bittick Murphy of McDonough, son, Adam Kendall Murphy (Karen) of Kathleen, daughter, Lisa Fogle of McDonough and five grandchildren, Tia, Kaleb, Bea, Alyssa, Brent and furry friends Kit, Coco and Daisy.
Bill was a retired battalion fire chief for the City of Riverdale, serving thirty-five years with this department. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during Vietnam and was previously employed with Outdoor Power Equipment in McDonough.
