William Abraham Khoury, Jr. of Forsyth, Georgia passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022. William was the son of the late William Abraham Khoury, Sr. and the late Fefie Smaha Khoury of Griffin, Georgia. William is survived by his wife of 55 years, Loraine Gloria Khoury (née Turner), their three sons, William, III (Sandee), Alex (Julie), and Chris. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Julia Khoury, Alex Khoury, Baylor Wall, Devon Davis, Tiffany Findlay, Jennie Hutchins, three great-grandchildren, and his brother, James E. Khoury of Fort Valley. William was born on June 8, 1939 in Macon, Georgia. He graduated from Fort Valley High School and Auburn University, where he received a degree in business. William lived a meaningful life. While in college, he joined in one of The Selma Marches with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. After graduating from Auburn, William served in the United States Navy, where his ship participated in the Cuban blockade during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After his time in the Navy, William returned home to Fort Valley to run the family business, Khoury’s Department Store. He was active in the Fort Valley community for over fifty years, including serving as Chairman of the Fort Valley Merchants Association and leading the effort to establish Everett Square Veterans Memorial Park, until moving to Forsyth and retiring in 2012. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis, traveling, dancing, and good Lebanese food. Above all, he enjoyed sharing new experiences with his family and friends.` Services will be held at Monroe County Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 2 p.m. After the services, the family and friends will meet for a short graveside ceremony at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fort Valley, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
