William Harris "Billy" Jenkins

William Harris “Billy” Jenkins passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was 86. Born February 25, 1937, in Juliette, Georgia, to the late John Henry Jenkins and Mary Callaway Jenkins. Billy was a resident of Forsyth, Georgia and was the youngest and last surviving of seven children. His siblings were Pierce Jenkins, Horace Jenkins, Frank Jenkins, Mary Alice Harris, Johnny Jenkins, and Anne Allen.  He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Glenda Jenkins of Griffin, Georgia.  They first met at the Indian Springs State Park skating rink in 1958.  He immediately knew that he would make her his wife.

His children are Mark Jenkins (Lisa), Penny Howard (Nolen), David Jenkins (Elaine), and Janet Freeman (Brad); grandchildren are Holly, Benjamin, Christina, Laura, Rebecca, Kyle, Morgan, Rachel, Jonathan, Mary Beth, Will, and Wes; and nine great grandchildren.

Billy worked for many years as operations manager in the trucking industry and retired from the Department of Corrections. One of the most important aspects of his life centered around his belief in Jesus Christ and his role in helping others and drawing them to the Lord.  He raised his children in the church and served many different roles as deacon, Sunday school teacher, etc.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Forsyth City Cemetery.
