On Monday, August 30, 2021, William Howell Carr passed away at the age of 80 after a brief illness.
Howell was born February 14, 1941, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late William Joe and Janie Carrie Tatum Carr. On December 17, 1994, he married Lisa Darlene Yates of Bowdon, Georgia.
Howell was preceded in death by his father, Joe, his mother, Janie, his sister, Marth Jane, and his father-in-law, Sammie. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, and his son, Alan (Sandy) from his first marriage, grandchildren, Aleaha (Chris) Whitus and Noah Carr, great-grandchildren, Mallory and Ethan Whitus, mother-in-law, Juone, loving in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of long-time friends.
Howell retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. In retirement, he enjoyed fishing and spending time on their small farm raising a wide variety of farm animals, including horses, goats, donkeys, llamas, and fowl.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at the Monroe County Memorial Chapel located at 86 West Main Street in Forsyth, Georgia, at 2:00 p.m.
Services will be officiated by his cousin, Maury Popwell of Montgomery, Alabama. Special music by his cousin, Jeff Dettling of Akron, Ohio.
Due to COVID 19 recommendations, all guests should wear mask and social distance.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
