Wilbur Eugene “Tag” Maddox, Sr. passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 9, 2017, at Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens. Rev. Franklin Etheridge will officiate. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Mr. Maddox, the son of the late Eugene Anderson Maddox and Lucille Lawhorne Maddox was born September 22, 1934, in Griffin, Georgia. His great grandson, Dalton Earl Haas preceded him in death. He was retired from Southern Natural Gas Company. Mr. Maddox was a graduate of Mary Persons High school and served in the Georgia Army National Guard in Forsyth for sixteen year. Survivors include his spouse, Louise Newton Maddox; children, Cheryl Bunn, Gene Maddox, Mary (Stan) Gibson and Martha Speir all of Juliette; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Monroe County Hospital and Heartland Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association, Georgia Chapter, Post Office Box 49416, Atlanta, GA 30859 or to the Monroe County Hospital, 88 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., Forsyth, GA 3109.Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of local arrangements.
