Vernon Talmadge Kight passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 30, 2017, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Andersonville National Cemetery, 496 Cemetery Road, Andersonville, GA 31711. Rev. Jeff Lewis will officiate. The family will greet friends at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Mr. Kight, the son of the late Henry Talmadge Kight and Leo Mixon Kight was born July 31, 1934, in Lyons, Georgia. His wife, Florence Kight preceded him in death. He retired from Robins Air Base and also retired from the military, serving in the United States Air Force and in the United States Navy. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Woodmen of the World and a member of Juliette Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Edna Holloway Kight of Juliette; children, Michael (Joyce) Kight of Durham, North Carolina, David Kight of Perry and Paul Kight of Warner Robins; sisters, Jeanette Hill of Durham, North Carolina and Della Richards of Valdosta; brothers, Charles (Lorraine) Kight of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Hayward (Barbara) Kight of Kennesaw; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
