Tommie Edward Walker, 72, of Forsyth, GA passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Brightmoor Hospice. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mildred Bryans Walker. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marie Walker of Forsyth, GA and sons, Michael Walker (Cherish) of Juliette, GA and David Walker (April) of Forsyth, GA. He was also the beloved Pops of Ava and Evan Walker of Forsyth, GA, Luke Walker of Juliette, GA, Honesty and Aaron Leland of Brunswick, GA and Patience Leyland-Perry (Teagan) of Macon, GA. He was a loving pet parent to his good boy, Teddie. He is also survived by his two brothers, Jimmie Walker of Jackson, GA and Bobbie Walker (Betsy) of Griffin, GA and their children Cathy Campbell (Kent) of Jackson, GA, Brandon Walker, of Jackson, GA, Carrie Moseley (Curt) of Baxley and Callie Walker of Atlanta, GA.
Tommie served in the field of education for 39 years with the majority of those years spent at Monroe County Board of Education. He was an avid Braves fan and loved Georgia Tech football. He coached his boys in multiple sports at Monroe County Recreational Department. For many years one of his favorite things to do was to announce games for the Mary Persons High School baseball team.
Tommie was known for his thoughtfulness, decision-making, wisdom and love for his family and friends.
A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens in Forsyth.
