Terrence L. Shinneman, 74, of Forsyth Georgia passed away with his family by his side on October 30, 2021. He was born in Indianapolis Indiana to Merlin Dell Shinneman and Elizabeth Josephine (Meeker) Shinneman.
Terry graduated high school in 1966 from Scecina Memorial High School in Indianapolis Indiana and joined the United States Army in 1966. He was deployed to Vietnam in 1968 and to Korea in 1973. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
In 1976, he worked for the VA Hospital in Batavia New York while attending college at Genesee County Community College. He was Assistant Chief of Building Management until graduating college in 1981. He then transferred to the VA Hospital in Manchester New Hampshire as Chief of Building Management and retired in 1997 from the VA Hospital in Butler Pennsylvania. He retired from the Army National Guard as SFC-E7in 1996. He then worked for a brief time at Terminix in Bethel Park Pennsylvania.
Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, bowling, golfing, feeding the wildlife, and spending time at his sister and brother-in-law’s lake house on Lamb Lake in Trafalgar Indiana. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his 5 grandchildren. He also loved going to the Annual Shinneman Family Reunions.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sherryl (Sovko-Kampert) Shinneman of Forsyth Georgia, his children- Ian (Amy) Shinneman and Ashley (Matt) Hoss, of Worthington Pennsylvania, Jerry and Brian Kampert of Dravosburg Pennsylvania, and Kristie (Josh) Heard of Forsyth Georgia, 5 grandchildren, Ella Shinneman, Benjamin Hoss, Lily Shinneman all of Worthington Pennsylvania and Parks and Phoenix Heard of Forsyth Georgia, sister Sharon Shinneman-Gleave of Indianapolis Indiana, sister-in-law Beth (Shinneman) Wolford of Indianapolis Indiana, brother LK Shinneman (Annie) of Carmel Indiana, and Bonnie (Bob) Fisher of Trafalgar Indiana, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by both parents, brother Jim Shinneman, nephews Todd Shinneman and Ryan Gleave.
Per Terry’s wishes, services were private followed by a Celebration of Life at the Annual Shinneman Reunion in July 2022.
