Sandie was the youngest of four children born to the late Louise Covington and Hubert Cleveland Wesson at Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia on May 21, 1953.
Just shortly after birth, at the early age of 6 months, she moved to Germany where her father was stationed while being actively enlisted in the United States Army. As a military “brat”, she relocated several times in numerous states prior to returning to Macon, Georgia attending McElvoy, an all-girls high school.
Sandie later settled down in Columbus, Georgia where she began her journey in cosmetology, managing countless salons and developing many memorable friendships along the way. Through many years of life changes and professions she ultimately found her calling in Nursing. She graduated from Gordon State College, Barnesville, Georgia in 1993 with an Associates of Science in Nursing.
She began her nursing career on 9 Main, the oncology floor, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia, which sparked her passion for Hospice. Her compassion, coupled with her steady wisdom and extensive knowledge gained the respect of all those she worked with. Sandie held great admiration for her Hospice family, friends and co-workers.
Although Sandie held numerous certifications and titles, her best known and most treasured were Mama and Nana.
Sandie is preceded in death by both parents, Larry Hubert Wesson (brother), Caroline Wesson (infant sister), and Haven Abigale Rayne Smith (great-granddaughter).
Sandie is survived by sister, Linda Wesson Lance (Ronnie), brother, Kenneth Elmer Wesson (Judy), son, Charles Smith (Robyn), daughters, Hannah Smith and Elizabeth Smith Johnson (Donny), and her favorite – Casper.
Grandchildren: Harley Caralle (Alex), Nickalous Smith, Spencer Smith (Kayla), Emily Lee (Dustin), Britney English, Bayle English, Michaela Johnson and numerous great grandchildren.
