Robert Cohen, Jr., 75, of Forsyth, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Family will greet friends for a time of visitation on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the Cedar Creek Church Cemetery, located at 18261 Georgia Highway 233, Abbeville, Georgia 31001. Reverend Nathan Jackson will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to your favorite charity in honor of Robert Cohen, Jr.
Robert was born on May 31, 1949, in Pineview, Georgia, to the late Robert and Marie Cohen. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration from Georgia College. He was into the military, where he became a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 bronze star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 Overseas Bars, and the Army Commendation Medal. Robert took pride in cabinetry and woodworking, which led him to open his own business known as Cohen’s Cabinet and Millwork.
Robert was an avid reader. He would spend hours reading various genres of books. His other hobbies included SCUBA diving and theatre. Robert’s greatest joy in his life was his wife and his family. He will be greatly missed.
Robert is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Gayle Cohen of Forsyth, Georgia; his children, Daryl Cohen (Angie) of Forsyth, Georgia, and Mandy Donaldson (Clayton) of Atlanta, Georgia; his two grandsons, Andrew Cohen and Blake Cohen, both of Forsyth; his siblings, Thelma Truelove (Monty) of Gray, Georgia, Joey Cohen (Debbie) of Lizella, Georgia, and Rusty Cohen (Vickie) of Lizella, Georgia; and his beloved dog, Honey. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Anelia Miller, Barbara Martin, and Jamie Cohen.
