Rev. James Floyd Hunnicutt

September 11, 1927 — January 18, 2018

Rev. James Floyd Hunnicutt, 90, passed away January 18, 2018, surrounded by his family. Born September 11, 1927 to Grace and Willie Jim Hunnicutt, he lived his entire life in Juliette, Georgia. He met and married the love of his life, Vivian Chambless in 1944 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary shortly before her death in 1994. He served as a Private in the United States Army during World War II. After serving in the Army, he returned to Juliette and worked for the Juliette Milling Company, serving as the Superintendent until the mill burned in the early 1970’s. He worked and retired from Georgia Power Company, Plant Scherer. He also served for many years on the Monroe County Board of Education and the Monroe County Board of Registrars. He served in the ministry of the Lord starting as an ordained deacon and then becoming an ordained minister, serving at Logwall Baptist Church, Juliette Baptist Church and Enon Baptist Church before retiring. He was a member of Maynard Baptist Church in Forsyth, Georgia. He is predeceased by his parents, Grace and Willie Jim Hunnicutt; his wife, Vivian Chambless Hunnicutt, two sisters, Edna McGhee and Lou Tillman and a brother, Tommy Hunnicutt.Survivors include: Children, Dianne (Wayne) Pippin, of Forsyth; Mike (Darnell) Hunnicutt, of Juliette; and Lindy (Wayne) Smith of Forsyth. Grandchildren: Sherry (Dean) O’Neal; Ginny (Don) Sapp; Stacey Hunnicutt; Matt Pippin; Kit (Nichole) Hunnicutt; Andy (Brianna) Hunnicutt. Great Grandchildren: Robyn (Scott) Davidson; Erika (Dusty) Long; Joey (Jennifer) Bryant; Mitchell Bryant; Kayla Pippin; Eilly Pippin; Addison Hunnicutt; Kirsten Hunnicutt; Harleigh Hunnicutt and Lexi Hunnicutt. Great-Great Grandchildren: Carolyn Davidson; Alivia “Livi” Long; Evan Bryant; Luke Davidson and Emmie Kate Bryant. Siblings: Betty Wood, Mary Pritchett and Gail Cochran and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday January 19, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. with services, Saturday January 20, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Maynard Baptist Church, Forsyth, Georgia, with burial in Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens. Rev. Ken Chambless and Dr. Marvin Lee will officiate. Family may be contacted at 281 English Road, Forsyth, Georgia.Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangement.
