Michael Stuart Proctor, age 59, of Forsyth, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. Michael was born into a family that has been in Monroe County for approximately two hundred years. He was a 1979 graduate of Monroe Academy and honored to be #67 on the football team. From 1980 to 2017, Michael enjoyed worked in the logging business with his father. He was a member of the Monroe County Historical Society where he loved to learn of the history of Monroe County. Michael was an avid reader, especially books pertaining to the War Between the States. His love of history led to many interesting discussions with family and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, James “Jimmy” Proctor, grandparents Fred and Annie Kate Proctor, and Gus and Nellie Mae Stuart. He is survived by his wife, Ann Harper Proctor, and by his children: Drew (Esther) Proctor and Meg Proctor of Orlando, Florida, Jack Proctor, and Trey and Tara Williams of Forsyth, Georgia. His mother is Stephanie Proctor, and siblings are Susan (Joey) Williams and Dan (Angela) Proctor of Forsyth, and Amanda (Tracy) Boyt of Thomaston. Michael’s mother- in- law is Mae Harper of Forsyth. Other family members include sister- in- law Dorothy (Marshall) Ellis of Macon, Larry Turner of Forsyth, and Allen (Cheryl) Harper of Louisville, Ky. Michael has numerous special nieces and nephews: Haleigh Williams, Anna Shepard (Josh), and Martin Williams (Samantha); Emily and Matthew Boyt; Haley Fleming (Mike), Audrey Proctor, and Conner Proctor; Xavier and Abigail Harper; and Matthew Harper. Great nieces and nephews include Taylor Evans, Ruby, Reagan, and Rhett Shepard; Blaine and Grayson Williams; and Addison and Jaxton Proctor. He also has many aunts, uncles, and cousins. His two four- legged babies, Rascal and Huley, will surely miss him.

Friends and family may visit Oct. 8 in the afternoon and evening at 1104 Dames Ferry Road. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Oct. 9, at 3:00 PM. It will be at Ebenezer United Methodist Church at 1671 Dames Ferry Road in Forsyth, GA. COVID precautions will be observed. Any flowers should be sent to Ebenezer United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monroe County Historical Society (126 East Johnston St., Forsyth, GA 31029) or Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
