Michael, "Mike", the oldest son of the late George Tyler Mitchell, Sr. and Nell Earlene Brown Mitchell was born at Dr. Alexander’s Clinic in Forsyth, Georgia. He was raised on the Mitchell Dairy Farm in Culloden along with his siblings and was responsible for many farming activities as well as milking many cows for many years. He was a member of the Culloden Baptist Church.
Mike graduated from Crawford County High School in 1969 and during his high school years was involved in FFA, 4-H, Beta Club, Basketball, and Track. After high school, he attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
While working on the Dairy he joined the Army National Guard where he served for twenty years. During the late 1990s he became one of the top car salesmen for the Paul Walsh Honda and Nissan Dealerships.
Mike is predeceased by his two daughters: Kimberly Lockman and Tracey Holcomb. He is survived by his wife Paula Mitchell of Macon. Michael was the proud father of two sons from an earlier marriage to Sonja Mitchell: Laney Mitchell of Culloden, and Michael Lucius "Luke" (Frances) Mitchell, Jr. of Ocala, Florida; grandchildren: Cameron Brett Lockman, Heather Lockman, Haley Holcomb and Hunter Holcomb and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers: Tyler (Linda) Mitchell of Macon and Lee (Melissa) Mitchell of Culloden and sister; Marianne (Harvey) Ellis of High Falls. He leaves many nieces and nephews as well.
Interment will take place at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, Georgia on Thursday, July 15 at 2:30 pm. Family and friends will gather for a Memorial Service at the Culloden Baptist Church on Saturday, July 17 at 11:00 am. Pastor Albert C. Parker will officiate both services.
