VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE Mary Ethel Stuart, 95, of Forsyth passed away on July 21, 2018. Mrs. Stuart, daughter of the late William Augustus Douthit and the late Lilly Curry Douthit, was born on March 2, 1923 in Roaring River, North Carolina. She was the oldest living member of Rogers United Methodist Church in Forsyth and served in multiple church leadership roles through the years. For more than 40 years, she worked as a seamstress for the Carter's Company followed by many years with Abare Enterprises after her retirement from Carter's. Mrs. Stuart is predeceased by her beloved husband of 73 years, Asa (Pete) Stuart. She is also predeceased by her brothers Bill, Hyram, Rex, Ovid, Carl and Harrison and sisters Alma Douthit Colbert and Dot Douthit Benton. Family left to cherish her memory include her son, Ben Stuart Sr. (Evelyn) of Macon; grandchildren, Ben Stuart Jr. (Belinda) of Warner Robins, Barry Stuart (Carolyn) of Macon; great grandchildren Faith, Katie, Ben, William and Mary Banks. She was well known for her exceptional gardening abilities and superb cooking skills. Her caring spirit, loving nature and generosity will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be held at Monroe County Memorial Chapel on Monday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 at Rogers United Methodist Church, located at 11576 Hwy 74 near Forsyth, with Reverend Eugene Barlow officiating, followed by interment at the Forsyth City Cemetery.
