Mark L. Maddox

August 6, 1955 — December 16, 2020

Mark Leland Maddox passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 to be with our heavenly Father. He was born August 6, 1955 in Macon, Georgia.  A memorial service and a celebration of his life will be held in the spring of 2021.

Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, Leland Maddox, his father-in-law, C. E. Chambless, Jr., many uncles, aunts, family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Dorothea Chambless Maddox; mother, Doris Floyd Maddox; sister, Sharon Maddox Wood; daughter and finance’, Melissa and Sam Hamrick; grandson, Tucker M. Williams; mother-in-law, Margaret Chambless; brother-in-law, Chris Chambless; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

After graduating from Mark Smith High School he married Dorothea Chambless (Dottie) in 1974.  They both started in printing by working at Masonic Home Print Shop managed by Eugene and Margaret Chambless.  Mark ran a small hand operated press. He went on to master large modern presses, working for Wanzie Collins Panaprint in Macon, Georgia for over thirty-five years. Eventually he became production manager travelling the United States and abroad learning and keeping up with advancing technologies. He made many friends along the way.  Mark was loved by his co-workers, colleagues, family and friends.  He was a born leader with the ability to make everyone feel important and cared about.


Mark was a gentle giant with a great sense of humor and a love of outdoor activities with family and friends.  He loved fishing, hunting and being in nature.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Avenue, Nebraska City, Nebraska 68410.

Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of local arrangements.
