Julian Kimbell Duckworth of Juliette, Georgia passed away Friday, February 17, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 20, 2023 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Forsyth City Cemetery. Rev. Pamela Johnston will officiate.
Kimbell was born June 5, 1940 in Milner, GA to the late Julian Sydney Duckworth and Jessie Mae Kimbell Duckworth. He graduated from Mary Persons High School in 1958, and joined the Air Force not long serving four years. He was a Military Police stationed in Iceland. Upon returning home, he joined the Georgia State Patrol retiring after twenty-three years. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
Kimbell enjoyed buying, selling and showing vintage cars winning numerous awards. He had a lifelong love of animals, dogs in particular and rescued many over the years. Kimbell loved sharing his experiences and was a gifted story-teller to the enjoyment of many! Family ties were important to him and he paid particular attention to his grandmothers, mother, aunts and other family friends throughout his life.
Kimbell is survived by his wife, Dorothy Daniels Duckworth; daughters, Kim (Steven) Ahlstrand of Marshfield, MA and Lisa (Terry) Baker of Forsyth; brother, Kenneth Wayne Duckworth of Loganville; grandson, Eric Julian Ahlstrand of Washington D.C.; niece, Joy Elizabeth Duckworth (Christopher) Gatny of Dallas, GA; nephew, Christopher Lee (Teresa) Duckworth of Chicago, Il; bonus grands; Wendy Baker (Brandt) Harvil, Bryan (Marlen) Ahlstrand, Alex Ahlstrand, Lucas Ahlstrand, Reece Harvil and Peyton Harvil.
The family would like to express gratitude for prayers, comfort and friendship by numerous people as well as the attention and care provided by doctors and staff at Monroe County Navicent Health.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Save-A-Pet Post Office Box 933, Forsyth GA 31029.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
