Kent Patton Sparks, 54, of Forsyth, Georgia, passed away on 12/17/2018. Kent was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on November 20th, 1964, to Dennis and Mary Sue Patton Sparks. He was a 1983 graduate of The Baylor School. He received his Bachelor’s degree in English from Virginia Military Institute in 1987, his Master’s degree from Georgia Southern University, and had completed all his coursework toward a Doctorate in Education. He worked as an educator and football coach for 26 years, ending his career as principal and Head Hurricane of Rutland High School. He enjoyed reading, watching hockey, grilling, and listening to music. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Misty, and three daughters: Shea (20), Addie, (19), and Laurel (17). He is also survived by his brother Mike, sisters Cathy and Betty, and beloved dog Riley. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at the Church of Jesus Christ at Latter Day Saints at 1624 Williamson Road, Macon, Georgia on Friday, December 21st, at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kent Sparks Memorial Scholarship Fund at any MidSouth Federal Credit Union branch. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
