Kennie Eugene Bowman, Sr. and Mary Ann Glover Bowman will have a dual service held on February 3, 2019, at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following. Kennie Eugene Bowman, Sr. October 15, 1937 - February 1, 2019 Forsyth, GA - Kennie Eugene Bowman, Sr. was born on October 15, 1937, in rural Bienville Parish, LA near Driskill Mountain to Howard Eugene and Lorena Mae Bowman; who both preceded him in death. Kennie was an only child, but was raised up in the community with numerous cousins to play with. Kennie attended Arcadia High School where he was active on the basketball team as a point guard. He graduated in 1955 and began his studies at Louisiana Tech University. During the summer of 1956, he met the love of his life Mary Ann Glover. Upon graduation in 1959, Kennie and Mary Ann were married, and they began pursuing graduate degrees from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Kennie and Mary Ann had three children. Their first born was Kennie E. Bowman, Jr. who preceded him in death in 1975. The second born was Chris L. Bowman and the youngest was Debra Bowman Cooper. Kennie loved his children, but there became a whole different level of love and adoration when he became a grandfather. He loved and adored his five grandchildren, Colby Bowman, Casey Bowman, Carley Bowman, Justin Cooper and Ashley Cooper. Kennie and Mary Ann during their sixty two year, seven month and 21 day relationship, had a true partnership in everything that they did. While living in Minden, LA and even after they moved to Jonesboro, they both taught Sunday School in their church. Kennie was active in the Jaycees from local level all the way to national vice president. He served on the Jackson Parish Police Jury and on numerous boards throughout the parish. Kennie's first careers were in hospital administration and he transitioned that knowledge of management to self-employment ventures throughout his life. Kennie and Mary Ann became self- employed by owning three convenience food stores. In 1996, Kennie and Mary Ann began their last business venture together by purchasing a KOA Kampground in Forsyth, GA. They operated this business together until their deaths. Kennie was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend to many. He will be missed dearly. Funeral services will be officiated by Dr. Herb Dickerson, with music provided by Melanie Martin. Serving as pall bearers are Andy Brown, Todd Cooper, Randy McKinney, Todd Till, Mark Treadway and Keith Watkins. Visitation and funeral services will be held in Jonesboro, LA at Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday, February 3, 2019, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Funeral service will be on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., with interment at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Driskill Mountain.
