VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE John C. Hanson passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Rock Springs Church with burial in the church cemetery. Dr. Benny Tate will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Mr. Hanson, the son of the late Elmer Clyde Hanson and Helen Mae Doyle Hanson was born March 26, 1943, in Atlanta, Georgia. His son, Don Hanson and his brother, Buddy Hanson preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Georgia Southern. Mr. Hanson retired as a Lieutenant from the Georgia State Patrol and also retired from Wells Fargo in the fraud department. Mr. Hanson was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of Rock Springs Church, serving as a Deacon, serving on the security team, the children’s church and the Rock Springs Clinic. Survivors include his wife, Deborah Hanson of Forsyth; children, Todd Hanson (Leigh) of Forsyth and Melissa Bradley (Ronnie) of Sumter, South Carolina; daughter-in-law Laurie Hanson of Jefferson, Georgia; sister-in-law, Cathy Hull of McDonough; five grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and one step great grandchild. Mr. Hanson was surrounded in love by his Friday night bible study family and his Wednesday morning bible study ministry. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Rock Springs Church, 219 Rock Springs Road, Milner, GA 30257 or to Wounded Warrior Project, Post Office Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
