Joe Herndon

On Wednesday September 1^st 2021 Joseph Wayne Herndon Sr. loving husband and father of three children and two grandchildren went to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 62.

Joe was born October 7^th 1958 in Macon, GA to Charles and Sallie Herndon. He was a Captain on the Macon/Bibb County Fire Dept. until his retirement in May 2020. He married the love of his life Sylvia on October 20th 1978. He raised three sons Joseph, Phillip, and Joshua.  He was an avid hunter, he loved square dancing and spending time with his grandchildren He loved the lord and served him in many capacities.  He was a member of Rock Springs Church.  Joe was preceded in death by his father Charles, mother Sallie, and brother Troy.

He is survived by his wife Sylvia, his three children Joseph, Phillip (Shasta), and Joshua, and his two grandchildren Audree and Andrew; brothers, Charles Herndon, John Herndon (Cheri) and William Simmons (Diana).

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 4th, 2021 at Monroe Memorial Gardens.  Rev. Scott Davidson will officiate.  Due to COVID-19 masks and social distancing are requested.  There will not be a formal visitation.

Flowers will be accepted or donations to GA Fallen Firefighters Foundation, 117 Riverwalk Pkwy, Kingston, Ga 30145.

Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
