Jesse Denny Dumas, 88, of Forsyth, Georgia, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at the Dayspring Presbyterian Church, with Pastor David Martin officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. The burial will be held at Monroe Memorial Gardens on Ensign Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dayspring Presbyterian Church, 1045 Highway 41 S., Forsyth, Georgia 31029.
Denny was born September 25, 1936, in the community of Redbone near Barnesville Georgia, to the late Jesse Hardy and Irene Bowden Dumas. During his childhood, he learned the value of hard work working on the family dairy farm. While attending high school Denny earned the distinguished honor of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts, graduating from Mary Persons High School in 1955. He was class president all four years and played the position of guard for the MP Bulldogs. He then graduated from North Georgia College, now known as University of North Georgia, in the year 1959.
Denny was a proud United States Army Ranger where he served three tours in Vietnam. Following his Army career, he served as a regional manager for the Christian ministry organization The Navigators in Atlanta, Georgia. He later joined the Georgia National Guard continuing his love of country and serving his country courageously. He will always be known as a “soldier of soldiers”. Denny then went on to have a full career with the US Postal Service before formally retiring.
Denny was a longtime member of Dayspring Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and earning the title, Elder Emeritus.
Denny is survived by his son, Kent Dumas (Tracy) of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter, Allena Paget (Jeffery) of Fayetteville, Georgia; grandchildren, Lauren Paget, Kyle Paget, Dylan Dumas, and Chase Dumas; his brother, Charles Dumas (Patricia) of Forsyth; his sister, Rita Misinco of Brunswick, Georgia; and his many friends.
In addition to his parents, Denny is preceded in death by his wife, Anita Allen Dumas; his son, Jess Allen Dumas; and his sister, Rachel McCrary.
