James "Jimmy" Albert McLendon, 82, of Forsyth, Georgia, has passed away with his loving family by his side, Wednesday April 23,2025. Services will be held 4PM, Sunday April 27th at New Providence Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at 3PM. Pastor Brian Moore will be officiating.
Jimmy was an extremely hardworking, caring and always on the go kind of man. If he wasn't fishing, he was hunting or working in his garden. He loved camping and going to beach. He spent many years following the same daily routine. All starting with his routine breakfast with his best friends at Waffle House. He was an honest and hardworking man. He retired more times than anyone because he could never stay still long enough to stay retired. He would do anything for anyone. He was the most loving and thoughtful man. And in the words of his beloved daughter, "He could move mountains". And if there was a strawberry pie in sight, you best believe he was first in line or hiding it from everyone else.
He is survived by his loving wife Sonja McLendon of 65 years.
He is also survived by the following: Son, Nathan McLendon, Daughter, Lisa Jackson, Son-In-Law, Allen Bailey, Grandchildren: Jonathan McLendon (Crystal). Justin McLendon (Sarah), Allana Spofford (Kyle), Mason & Madden McLendon. And 14 great-grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart, and brother Keith Robinson (Shirley).
He is preceded in death by: Daughter. Vonda McLendon Bailey (56) & Grandson, Jordan Chase Herndon (19).
Monroe County Memorial Chapel 86 West Main Street, Forsyth, has charge of the arrangements.
