James Gary McGaha

James Gary McGaha, 71 of Rex Georgia passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2022, at Piedmont Henry Hospital. Gary is predeceased by J.C. and Nettie McGaha (parents), Ronnie McGaha (brother) and James Cornacchia (son-in-law). Gary is survived by his wife Della Sue McGaha, his children Christal Cornacchia and Pamela (Tim) Mitchell, his sisters Ruth (John) Allison, Betty (Sammy) Kitchens, Janice (Larry) Winters, sister-in-law Marilyn McGaha and his stepdaughters Kristi Quillen and Karli (Jason) Green and ten grandchildren. 

Gary was born December 21, 1950, in Forsyth, GA. He graduated from Mary Persons High School, Class of 1969, and was class president. He played football there and continued throughout his life supporting the Bulldogs by attending many of their games. He then attended West Georgia College for three years and later completed his BS degree at Tift College, Mercer University. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed playing golf in his spare time.

Gary served his country in the National Guard. He retired from Georgia Power where he was a QC manager for many years. Once retired Gary dedicated himself to his family and wore his title of Papa with more pride than you can imagine and was extremely loved by his family. 

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 5, 2022, at his home church Rocky Creek Baptist Church 225 Rocky Creek Rd, Forsyth, GA 31029. The visitation is at 2:00 p.m., funeral service at 3:00 p.m. and graveside service at Rocky Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Center Alsad/St, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Cancer Center of Atlanta.
