James Kenneth Dorsett known affectionately as Ken, was called home on Sunday, February 18, 2024.
He was born on September 30, 1957, to Barbara Foster (née Smith) and the late James Roger Dorsett. He dedicated many years of his life to working at Georgia Power before retiring. However his true passion lay with his family, particularly his grandchildren who he cherished dearly. His grandchildren were his heart and soul, and always put them first.
In his free time, Ken enjoyed cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and following NASCAR races. He had a keen interest in collecting Native American artifacts, particularly arrowheads, which reflected his appreciation for history and culture.
Ken was a cherished son, brother, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, James Roger Dorsett, and his stepfather, Edd Foster.
He is survived by his fiancé, Lillie Nugent, his mother, Barbara Foster of Forsyth Ga, his children, Sheree Daniel of Cape Corral Fl. (Luis “Kiki”), Leslie Mannheim of Gray Ga (Austin), and Jim Dorsett of Kathleen Ga, (Kristen), and his loving sister, Cheryl Hill of Lincolnton NC (Donnie), as well as his nephew Dustin Hill (Holly) and their two children.
Ken is also survived by his greatest joy and beloved grandchildren Kendal Daniel, Kaylee Daniel, Cayden Pacheco, Jett Dorsett, Aylin Mannheim, Kemper Dorsett, and Oklen Mannheim.
Ken’s journey on this earth was also enriched by the support of the mother of their children Phyllis Dorsett (née Bass), who survives him as well as his many friends.
A visitation service to honor and remember Ken’s life will be held on February 21st at the Monroe County Memorial Chapel in Forsyth. The visitation will take place from 10:00am to 11:00am to allow family and friends to pay respects to this remarkable man who touched the lives and hearts of many.
