Jack Langford Haygood was born at home on the family farm of his parents, Jessie B. and Charles B. Haygood, Jr.
He graduated from Mary Persons High School and attended the University of Georgia, Athens.
At age 15, Jack earned his pilot’s license, which was before he received his driver’s license. Throughout his career, he worked on the family farm and later sold forestry equipment and worked for various timber companies including Morbark Industries, Alsobrook Lumber Co., Windham Manufacturing Co., Pioneer Machinery and Pine Timber Co., continuing to work into his early eighties.
Known for his generosity to others, he often helped family and friends in establishing businesses. His most admirable qualities of character were his generosity, loyalty, forgiving nature and loving his family unconditionally.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sons, Jack L Haygood, Jr. and James “Jim” H. Haygood, his sister Annice Trevitt, older brother Charles Haygood and grandson Gavin Forrester.
Jack is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ann Haygood, daughter Ellen Haygood and brother Charles B. Haygood III (Mary Isla). His step children, daughters Theresa (Keith) Spencer, Lisa Helen (Tracy) Gaskins, and son Robbie (Annalise) Forrester. Grandchildren Forrest Spencer and Maggie Forrester.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 24, 2021 at Monroe Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
