Gwyndolyn Register Armstrong
October 13, 1935 – October 15, 2024
Gwyndolyn Armstrong, beloved wife, mother, aunt, sister, granny, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on October 15, 2024. Born on October 13, 1935, in Laurens County, Georgia, to W.H. Register and Lolly Lowery (Register) Robinson, Gwyne was the twin sister of Gayle Register Chaffin and sister to Lowery Robinson (Vickie). She spent her life dedicated to her family, faith, and community.
On February 7, 1954, Gwyne married the love of her life, Robert "Bobby" Armstrong, and the two shared 70 wonderful years together. Their enduring love and partnership was an inspiration to all who knew them.
Gwyne was a devoted mother to her two sons, Stanton and Rollyn, both of whom she cherished deeply. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, embracing every moment with them and offering endless love and wisdom.
Gwyne's career began at C&S Bank, where she worked for many years before retiring. But knowing retirement didn’t suit her, she quickly returned to work with her sister in the Development Office at Wesleyan College in Macon, where after many years, she retired again. After her second retirement, she embarked on a new venture with her sister, Gayle, opening a successful gift shop in Juliette, Georgia. Together, they built a business that was a creative space for them and a gathering place for friends, neighbors, and the local community.
Known for her loving smile, laughter, quick wit, strong will, and warm heart, Gwyne was always ready to lend an ear, share stories, and offer comfort. She had a deep love for reading, studying the Bible, crafting, painting, and playing the organ. Her family and faith were at the center of her life, and she especially treasured her beloved cat, Jumper.
Gwyne is preceded in death by her parents, W.H. Register (Louise) and Lolly Robinson (Charles), and her sister, Gayle Chaffin. She is survived by her devoted husband, Bobby; her sons, Stanton (Sharon) and Rollyn (Carole); her brother, Lowery Robinson (Vickie); granddaughters, Ashlea and Faith; great-granddaughter, Bella; nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends.
Gwyne's life will be remembered for her sweet spirit, the love, warmth, and joy she brought to everyone around her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and kindness that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
