It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Gerald Pritchett. A Christian servant, Gerald was a loving & faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and mentor. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 25, 2021. The memorial and celebration of his life will begin at Garden Hill Baptist Church, in Forsyth, Georgia, on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
Gerald was born to and preceded in death by Leslie & Odessa (Melvin) Pritchett in Jones County, as the oldest brother to Cathy (Don) Fullman and Barry Pritchett. Gerald graduated from Jones County High School in 1960. He worked for the Bibb Manufacturing Company for 30 years before his retirement. Gerald opened and operated The Carpet Market (in the Bibb Manufacturing building) for several years before his second retirement. Gerald was a member and Deacon of Garden Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Gerald helped guide many lives of the young people in Monroe County as a sports coach. He was a youth boys football coach for 10 years, a youth boys’ basketball coach for 5 years, a youth boys’ softball coach for 8 years, a lady’s softball youth coach for 5 years, and a men’s & young men’s softball coach for 12 years. He traveled all across Georgia and the southeast to attend tournaments. He loved all of teams he coached. Mr. Gerald received multiple community awards & appreciation acknowledgments for his guidance with Monroe County youths.
Gerald is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 59 years, Darlene Pritchett., his children Timmy (Leah) and Todd Pritchett, grandchildren Wade (Carly), Holden, and Kayla Pritchett and sister Kathy Fullman (Don).
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 29, 2021 at Garden Hill Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Ricky Niblett will officiate. Interment will follow in Monroe Memorial Gardens. Masks and social distancing are encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to Garden Hills Baptist Church, 88 Vining St, Forsyth, GA 31029 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 W Faris Rd,. Greenville, SC 29605.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
