Gary Michael Vinson Sr.

Gary M. Vinson, Sr., 69, of Forsyth, known by those closest to him as Mike, passed away Saturday June 15, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Rocky Creek Baptist Church, 225 Rocky Creek Road Forsyth, Georgia with Reverends Ed Hoard and Natalie King officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mike was born to Ed and Pauline Vinson in Columbus, Georgia. He retired from Georgia Power after a 43-year career. Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time, but most of all, he enjoyed being a family man. 

His father, William Edward Vinson, Sr. precedes him in death. 

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Carolyn Taylor Vinson; mother, Pauline Vinson; sons, Gary M. Vinson, Jr. (Haley), Gregory B. Vinson (Summer), Derek Horne (Anni); brothers, William Edward Vinson, Jr. (Brenda), Joel R. Vinson, Sr. (Denise); stepson, Joshua B. Miner (Sara); stepdaughter, Ashley B. Miner; stepson, Derek J. Miner (Jessica); and 15 grandchildren, Tori Hobby (Collin), Caleb Miner, Olivia Vinson, Camden Miner, Charlie Vinson, Will Vinson, Drew Horne, Bo Horne, Jacob Miner, Avery Vinson, Hayden Smith, Kason Smith, Zoey Ross, Owen Miner, and baby girl Miner.
