Gary Thomas Smith, Jr., age 55, of Barnesville “finished his race” and stepped into the presence of the Lord on August 13, 2020. Loved ones surrounded him as he took his final breath here on this earth.
Gary was a unique and vibrant soul always wanting to make you laugh and see the light side of this thing we call life. He never met a stranger and his actions showed it, as he would give the shirt off his back and did often times. He was a loving and doting husband to his wife Dawn and treated her like his queen. He loved his kids and was so proud to be their daddy. To his grandkids he was better known as “Popi” and “PawPaw”, he loved them and enjoyed spending time with them. Gary had many titles, not only husband, father, and grandfather but also, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. As a son, he was loved unconditionally, as a brother he was the oldest and paved the way, as an uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend he was cherished. His life touched many and his fingerprints are forever on our hearts.
Gary was preceded in death by Gary Thomas Smith, Sr. Left to cherish his memory are: his wife of 26 years (Dawn) Anne Yvonne Walden of Barnesville; children: Thomas Scott Slocumb (Stephanie) of Phoenix, AZ, Logan Connally (Rhonda Kay) of Jefferson City, Missouri, Thomas Colt Smith (Savannah) of Locust Grove, Sydney Connally Moore (Dylan) of Griffin, and Gary Dillan Smith (Jenna) of Barnesville.
