Garry Lee Gifford

Garry Lee Gifford, Sr., 84, of Forsyth, Georgia passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023.  Funeral Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Circle of Care Thrift Shop, 52 W Adams St. Forsyth, Georgia 31029. 

Son of the late Gale L. Gifford and Bergetta Rice Gifford Phelps, Garry was born on November 12, 1938, in Flint, Michigan.   Garry proudly served in the U.S. Navy, a testament to his unwavering commitment to his country and community. His love for the natural world was evident as an avid trapper, hunter, and fisherman. This love extended to his devoted work with the Middle Georgia Food Bank, where his commitment to service always shined.  

Above all, Garry treasured his family, held a profound love for all his children and grandchildren, and supported law enforcement in all their endeavors. His legacy of service, kindness and love will always be remembered. 

Garry is survived by his children: Scott Gifford, Sean Eric Gifford (Nikki), Shannon Gail Gifford, Garry Lee Gifford, Jr. (Susan), Jesse Gifford (Kelly), and Jason Gifford; fifteen grandchildren; and siblings, Ernest Gifford and David Phelps.  

In addition to his parents, Garry was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Gifford; sister, Sally Phelps; and stepfather, Leo Phelps.
