Eddie Joe Spence

Eddie Joe Spence passed away Saturday, May 4, 2019. The family will greet friends at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2019, with the service following at 1:00 p.m., at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. in Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene Cemetery, Wrightsville, Georgia. Rev. Ricky Niblett will officiate.

Eddie, the son of the late Joe Spence and Nonie Knight Spence was born April 29, 1938, in Laurens County, Georgia. His first wife of thirty-seven years, Mary Edna Blizzard Spence preceded him in death. He retired from Monroe County Sanitation Department and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Ophelia Peterman of Forsyth; son, Danny and Arlene Hadden of Forsyth; sister, Josephine Foskey of Bradenton, Florida; brother, Harrrell and Laverne Spence of Columbia, South Carolina; and four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.

Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
