David Leon Shaw

David Leon Shaw, 68, of Locust Grove, Georgia, passed away May 21, 2021 in Griffin, Georgia at Wellstar Spalding Hospital. He was born in Thomaston, Georgia to the late Jesse Will Shaw Sr. and Betty Jean Scott Shaw. He was a truck driver and loved fishing and his grandbabies.

David passed away due to an illness and fought all the way till the end.  Just like he dealt with all experiences in life David managed his illness with strength and grace and wanted to spend as much time with his kids, grandkids and family as possible.  On his final day he was surrounded by his children and spouse who adored him more than anything in the world.

He was a kind and loving partner to his spouse Diane as well as an amazing father and grandfather.  David’s favorite saying was “y’all don’t have to be in such a hurry now.”

Aside from being survived by his spouse Margie Diane Shaw, David also leaves behind a brother, sister, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids;  brother, Larry Shaw, sister, Wendy Shaw (Donald) Lucas; kids, April Shaw (Bo) Tarpley, Allen (Tabatha) Shaw, Chelsea (Dekota) Hancock, Christopher (Ashleigh) West; grandkids, Justin Shaw, Brittany Shaw, Levi Shaw, Chloe Shaw, Brantlee Shaw, Brandie Tarpley, Brandon Tarpley and Ashley Griffin; great grandkids, Makenna, Elana, A’mya and Easton. Preceded in death by sister’s Jean Shaw and Tracy Mooney and brother, Jesse Shaw.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Shiloh Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Ricky Niblett will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 24, 2021 at Monroe County Memorial Chapel.
