David Michael “Mickey” Brown, Sr., 83, died Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Brightmoor Hospice located in North Macon, Georgia after a brief illness. His memorial service will be held graveside at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens located on Houston Road in Macon at 11:00 am on Sunday, October 22, 2023.
“Mickey” as he was known to family and friends, was born in Macon on February 21, 1940, to Evelyn Cranford. He served in the United States Army, and worked as a meat cutter, a mechanic, a salesman, and a delivery driver for different companies. He married June Lenderman in 1961. They had four children together: David Michael, Jr., Randall Kemp, Susan Kimberly, and Tommy Dwayne. Mickey came to know Christ and began following Him in 1977. He was a faithful member of Gilead Baptist Church under Pastor Emory Bowker. In the 1990’s, he relocated to Monroe County. He enjoyed studying his Bible and prayer. In his retirement, Mickey loved living at the Brentwood Apartments in Forsyth along with his neighbors and supported the Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, and the Special Olympics.
Mickey is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn, his brother Joe Brown, his sister Shirley Crouch, and his son Randy Brown. He is survived by his sons and their wives, David and Cathy, and Tommy and Charlene Brown; his daughter Susan Portinga, his grandsons Chuck, Caleb, and Thomas Brown; his granddaughter and her husband, Betsy, and Matt Jeffers; and his great granddaughters Palmer and Maddy Jeffers.
