CPO William Fredrick Merritt US Navy (Ret)

CPO William Fredrick “Bill” Merritt US Navy (Ret) passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 28, 2017, at East Juliette Baptist Church. Rev. J. R. Jones and Rev. Mark Goolsby will officiate.  The family will greet friends following the service at the church.  Mr. Merritt, the son of the late Henry Warren Merritt and Anna Lucile Odom Merritt, was born January 9, 1935, in Jones County, Georgia. He was retired from the United States Navy serving during Vietnam and also retired from Adams Brisco.  He attended East Juliette Baptist Church.  Survivors include his wife, Betty Smith Merritt of Juliette; children, Dennis (Jennie) Merritt of Forsyth and Brian (Susan) Merritt of Juliette; sister, Joyce Paulk of Carrollton; sister-in-law, Shirley Merritt of Ocilla; brother, Joseph (Bonnie) Merritt of Birmingham, Alabama; four grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to East Juliette Baptist Church, Post Office Box 250, Juliette, GA 31046 or to Wounded Warrior Project, Post Office Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
