Charles Millwood

Charles Allen Millwood, 83, of Forsyth, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at First Baptist Church in Forsyth, with Reverends Glenn Gregg and Jay Dockweiler officiating. Jerry Elder will be playing the piano and Diane and Glenn Gregg will be singing. The family will greet friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to service. 

 Charles was born on June 27, 1941, in Morgan County, Georgia, to the late Monarch and Cora Etheridge Millwood. He is survived by his wife of forty years, Dale Stone Millwood; his two daughters, Ann Vaughan of Forsyth, and Tammy Jones of St. Simons Island, Georgia; his five grandchildren, Charles Riley Arbatowicz of Forsyth, Georgia, Aurelie Madison Arbatowicz of Warner Robins, Georgia, Violet Isabella Vaughan of Forsyth, Georgia, Whitney Stahla of Hawaii, and Paris Hutcheson of St. Simons Island, Georgia; his five great-grandchildren, Tucker, Eden, Reese, Lennon, and Jett; his sister, Gloria Travis of Forsyth; and several nieces and nephews. His family moved to Forsyth to cut timber and they never left. Charles was a timber contractor with Millwood Brothers. He graduated from Mary Persons High School in 1960, where he played football and was also in the band. 

Charles joined the First Baptist Church in 1959 and has been a faithful member of the choir for fifty-nine years. He taught Sunday School and served on many committees, including Meals on Wheels. He was a member of the Georgia National Guard, and a 1963 Graduate of the Georgia Military Institute receiving his U.S. Army Commission. He left the Guard as an executive officer of the 179th Military Police Company in 1970. Charles was also a long-standing member of the Local Jaycees Chapter, a York Rite Mason, and a Shriner.
