Gale V. “Buzz” Tanner, Jr. passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 13, 2017, at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 432 Forest Hill Road, Macon, GA 31204. Father Ben R. Wells will officiate. Burial will be private. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Buzz, the son of the late Gale V. Tanner, Sr. and Frances Lucile Tatum Tanner was born January 1, 1947, in Meridian, Mississippi. He held a Master of Science in Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia, Master of Arts from the University of Southern Mississippi and a cum laude B.A. degree from the University of Mississippi. Mr. Tanner was the Administrator of the Monroe County Hospital from 1992 to 2004. Prior to 1992, Mr. Tanner was involved in healthcare management at Middle Georgia Hospital in Macon and at the South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Mississippi. He was a member of the Monroe County Kiwanis Cub and a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife, Isabelle Waldrep Tanner of Forsyth; son, Justin Tanner of Forsyth; daughter, Jessica Tanner of Kent, Ohio; step-children, Rebecca (Andrew) Lopez of Cumming and Walker Waldrep of Forsyth; step-grandchildren, Gabriel and Alexander Lopez. The family requests no flowers but suggests donations to St. Frances Episcopal Church, 432 Forest Hill Road, Macon, GA 31204 or to donor’s favorite charity. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
