Billy Wayne Harland Sr, a retired employee of Southwest Airlines, passed away on June 19, 2023. He was a loving family man with an altruistic heart, always willing to help others even if it meant sacrificing his own needs.
Born on April 15, 1960, in Birmingham, Alabama, Billy led an exemplary life. He grew up in a loving household and was blessed with caring parents - Marvin William Harland and Doris Lillian Wood Harland who nourished him with great values and positivity.
His military service in the United States Army molded him into a disciplined and determined individual. While at Southwest Airlines Billy made many lasting friendships.
He loved riding motorcycles and listening to music which kept him young at heart. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family and fulfilling his role as grandfather to his beloved grandchildren Hailey, Aiden, Aeson, Keira, Izabella, and Connor.
Billy's giving nature touched many lives during his lifetime. He was known for being kind-hearted and generous towards anyone he met. According to those who knew him best, Billy would have given you the shirt off his back even if it would hurt him.
He is survived by his wife Tammy Harland, son Billy Harland Jr., daughter-in-law Samantha Harland, son Brandon Harland and daughter-in-law Zarina Harland. He will also be missed by his daughter Amber Nicole Mitchell. In addition to his children and grandchildren listed above are his brothers Gary Harland and Terrell Harland along with sister-in-law Tamara Harland and Renee Rawlings respectively and Sister Lisa Myrick.
A visitation for Billy Wayne Harland will take place on June 24th from 11:00am to 12:00 pm at Monroe County Memorial Chapel in Forsyth, Georgia, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm with full military honors.
Billy Wayne Harland Sr lived his life to the fullest and will always be remembered for his selfless personality and loving demeanor. He inspired others throughout his life to be kind, generous, and compassionate towards one another. Billy's legacy will continue through the cherished memories he leaves behind with his loved ones.
