Betty Pate Howells went to be with her Lord and Savior July 22, 2022. She died peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones.

Betty was born March 1, 1937 to Zack and Ida Pate. She was the fourth born out of six children. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Dalton Pate (Joyce), Avery Pate (Sharon), Robena "Ginny" Cannon (Junior), Marilyn Pope, and Deloria Ann Denim (Neil). With her husband they are reunited and rejoicing in heaven.

Betty was born and raised in Ocilla, GA and talked about Ocilla and the memories there til the day she died.

Shortly after graduation she moved to Macon, GA and made it her new home. She met the love of her life, Stanley Howells, at Lakeside. She and Stanley married in 1957 and for 55 years they were happily married until his death in 2012.

Betty was just as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She enjoyed being a home-maker and raising her 3 daughters. She was a wonderful mother and wife, but she was also a Godly woman who led by example. She then went to work and retired from the Bibb County Courthouse as an assistant docket clerk in the juvenile division. Betty was an active member of Ingleside Baptist Church where she taught Children's Sunday School and also adult couples classes, she was a faithful servant to the Lord.

She enjoyed cooking and baking and everyone around her loved her cooking and baking too. She was the rock in her family and she leaves a big empty hole in the hearts of those she loved. Betty is survived by her 3 daughters, Jana Howells Cansler of Dalton, GA, Julie Howells Pittman (Lamar) of Fyfe, AL, and Virgina "Gini" Howells of Macon, GA.

She was a proud grandmother to John Sheffield IV, Taylor Cansler Womack (Chase), Catherine Cansler Akins (Carrington), Paten Mander, Cameron Pittman, Gracie Cansler Krajesky (Evan), Kaitlyn Pittman, and Morgan Howells. She had four great grandchildren, Kamilla Cowart, Wade and Ellie Womack, and Ruthie Grace Akins. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousin, sister-in-laws, brother-in-law, and many dear friends.

She will be greatly missed by so many and her love can never be replaced.
