Betty Louise Dupree

Betty “Shepherd” Dupree, 81, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Forsyth City Cemetery, with Reverend Mark Goolsby officiating. Family will greet friends for visitation on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Tunnel for Towers.

Betty was born on September 7, 1943, in Forsyth, Georgia, to the late Ben and Laura Maddox Shepherd. She graduated from Mary Person's High School in 1962, then proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Betty took pride in serving her country; and she continued in the same protecting capacity by working at Georgia Power as a security guard. She loved to travel and visit friends in Florida. Betty was a huge Florida Gators and New York Yankees fan. But what brought her the most enjoyment in her life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed greatly.

Betty is survived by her children, Tammy Batten, Kelly Bird, and Bubba Dupree; her grandchildren, Joshua Dupree, Misty Dupree, Mason Dupree, and Willie Dupree; and her four great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Laura Shepherd; her brothers, Francis Maddox and Benjamin Shepherd, Jr.; and her grandchild, David Dupree.
