Betty Jean Dungy, 71, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on June 17, 2020 of cardiac arrest. She was born Sept. 7, 1948 in Columbia, Tenn. to Marcia Garrett Smith and Johnny Clayton Bray, both of whom preceded her in death.
Betty, her husband, Wendell, and children moved to Forsyth in 1980. She has been an employee at Quality Inn in Forsyth for many years. The love of her life, Wendell “Big D” Dungy, preceded her in death. Her son, Timothy Dungy Brady; granddaughter, Marcia “Macy” Rae Morgan; and her sister, Joyce Pontiac, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Tracy (William “Po”) Grier; son, Kevin (Tammy) Dungy Brady; grandchildren, Darrell (Tony) Muckenfuss; Riley Brady; Kameron Morgan, all of Forsyth; Tabatha Hurley of Ringgold and Justen (Meggie) Shaw and Baby Boy Shaw of Billings, Montana; great granddaughter, Kinslee Ann Stark of Forsyth; sister, Beverly Douvier of Pulaski, Tenn.; and other loving family, including several nieces and nephews and her fur baby, Penny.
A Celebration of Life/Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Forsyth City Park at pavilion on hill by splash pad at 11 a.m. Family and friends are invited to attend to pay respects or drive through to say blessing. Bright colored clothing is requested.
