Belle Howard

October 1, 1928 — November 9, 2022

Isabelle (Belle) Nolen McCrary Howard, 94, of Forsyth, GA slipped into eternal rest on November 9th. Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday, November 13, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Memorial Gardens, Ensign Road, Forsyth, GA.  Following the service, family and friends are invited to participate in an informal celebration of life at the First Presbyterian Church Parish House at 63 North Jackson Street, Forsyth.

Belle was born on October 1, 1928 in Macon, GA. She was the daughter of the late Nolen and Winifred Roberts McCrary.  After graduating from Miller High School, she attended medical technician training. She worked for 46 years at Forsyth Family Physicians working with numerous doctors and staff members, most notably Dr. Patton Smith and co-worker Kathryn Tingle.  If someone was born and raised in Forsyth, there is a good chance they at one time or another got a shot from Miss Belle.

Belle was a member of the Forsyth Presbyterian Church. She was a life-time member of the Disabled American Veterans, with the Macon chapter being named for her father.  She was also active with the Monroe County Historical Society, Meals on Wheels, Merry Hearts and her monthly Miller HS class reunions.  After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and dogs and enjoying a good cup of coffee.

Belle was married to Edgar (Buddy Howard) for 52 years.  Survivors include sons Nolen Howard (Penny) and Neal Howard (Alisa), and daughter Leigh Dover (Auze).  She was blessed with seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by Buddy and her sister Ann Smith.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Forsyth Presbyterian Church or any charity of your choice.

The family especially wants to thank the loving and caring staff at River Place Assisted Living which she called home for the past 5 years, the Staff at Monroe County Hospital and Eternal Hope Hospice.

She was a loving person with a servant’s heart.

Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
