Barney Lee Poole

Barney Lee Poole of Forsyth, GA went home to be with The Lord Monday, September 13, 2021. Barney was born at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA, August 31, 1952.

He is preceded in death by his father, William Lee Poole, Mother, Mary Ann Lucas Poole and a sister, Debra Poole-Holt.

Barney is survived by his wife of 40 years, Brenda Lee Britt-Poole. Children: Courtney Marie Poole, Forsyth, GA. Frances Elaine Poole-Smith (Andrew), Forsyth, Ga and Patricia Lee Poole, Macon, GA.

Sisters: Kathy Poole Stapleton, Gordon, GA. Susan Poole Good ( Mickey), Hawkinsvile, GA. Brothers: Steve Poole (Katie), Hawkinsville, GA and Ben Poole (Julie), Dallas, GA.

9 grandchildren: Xander Blace Howell, Virgil Thomas Howell, Austin Taylor Howell, Haley Nichole Young, Rebecca Michelle Young, Patrick Cleburne Howell, Charles Donovan Street, Karson Lee Darby and Jace William Roberts.

Barney served in the Navy from 1971-1979.

Barney furthered his education at South GA Technical and Vocational School (College), from 1980 to 1983. In the field of construction.

In 1983 he started teaching the 4 areas of Construction at the new Mary Persons High School, Forsyth, GA. Mary Persons was chosen to be one of ten schools in GA to be a pilot class for the area of Construction.

He was active in Skills USA and heavily involved his students in it as well.

In 2009 he became Head Of Maintenance or Monroe County Board of Education, Forsyth, GA. Til he retired in 2017.

He went back to work in 2018 for the Monroe County Board of Education part-time in their warehouse. Where he was employed at time of death.

Barney also helped with maintenance at Maynard Baptist Church, Forsyth, GA from 2018 to present.

He and his wife, Brenda, are members of Shiloh Baptist Church, Barnesville, GA.

He had a heart for mission work. Helping with projects with The Centennial Baptist Association, Thomaston, GA, Shiloh Baptist Church MIA, Barnesville, GA and Kingdom Builders here in Monroe County.

A memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Maynard Baptist Church, 1195 Juliette Road, Forsyth, GA 31029 with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
