Ann Catherine Land, age 86, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022. She was born on August 13, 1936, in Macon, Georgia. She was a graduate of Mount De Sales class of ’54 in Macon, Georgia. She and her husband moved to Monroe County in 1969 to raise their family. She spent 40 years working in the shipping department of the Keebler Company.
She was a member of Forsyth United Methodist Church serving as the church secretary for 20 years before retiring in the fall of 2021. Her fondest memories were playing with the bell choir and working with the great staff of the Forsyth United Methodist Preschool under the leadership of Cathy Stevick and Kathie Haygood. She had great love for her community of Smarr, Georgia, with Mount Zion Methodist Church holding a special place in her heart.
Ann’s talents were many; she was an accomplished musician, gifted at cross stitch, expert at crossword puzzles, and rarely lost at Phase 10.
She was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the daughter of the late Emily Rumble Wood and Julian Wood. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Robert “Bob” Land. She is survived by her son, Robert “Bobby” Land and his wife, Ginny; grandson, Nathan Land (Chrissy); granddaughters Britanny (Andrew) and Emily Land; great-granddaughters, Ava Mae Land, Addison Kathryn Land, Iva Caroline Smith and Ellison Brooke Smith; sister, Marion Vullo (Tony); nephews Russell (Khristy) and Lee Vullo; niece, Kathy Rowland (Eddie); great niece, Katy; great-nephew, Carson (Kayla and Riley); numerous friends including her partners in crime Kathy Barfield and Carol Lindsey; and her recliner buddy, Baxter.
Graveside services will be held at Monroe Memorial Gardens at 1:00 p.m. November 26, 2022, with Rev. Billy Beard officiating assisted by Rev. Ken Stephens and Rev. Robert Land.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make a memorial contribution to the Bob Land Scholarship Fund at Forsyth United Methodist Church, 68 West Johnston Street, Forsyth, Georgia 31029.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
