September 6, 1946 — December 8, 2023

Peachtree City

Andrea Lucile Hammond Colson, a cherished and beloved figure in her family and community, passed away at the age of 77 in Peachtree City, Georgia on December 8th. Born on September 6, 1946, in Macon, Georgia, Andrea was a beacon of love and selflessness throughout her life.

A proud graduate of Margaret McEvoy High School in 1964, Andrea furthered her education at Crandall Business College. Her professional journey culminated in a fulfilling career at Owens Corning in Fairburn, Georgia, from which she retired, leaving a legacy of hard work and dedication.

Andrea was predeceased by her parents, John Hayes Hammond and Marjorie Smith Hammond. Her memory is lovingly carried on by her two sons and their families: Oldest son, Scott and Jurga Colson, along with grandsons Nicholas and Marcus. Youngest son, Bryan and Melissa Colson, with grandchildren Olivia, Ava, Carina, and Declan. Her sister, Susan White and husband David, with niece Lauren Roberson and husband Brad, and nephew Jeffrey White. Also survived by her great-niece and nephews, Alec, Colton, Maddox, and Emmarie, each holding dear their unique memories of her.

A resident of Peachtree City for approximately 47 years, Andrea's life was a testament to her love for her family and community. Her devotion to her family knew no bounds, especially evident in her adoration for her grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to be involved in their lives, cherishing every moment spent with them. Her home, particularly her beloved farm, was a hub of family gatherings, echoing with laughter and filled with love.

An avid cook, Andrea found joy in preparing meals for her family, especially during the holidays, creating not just dishes but memories that her family will treasure forever. Her selflessness and willingness to do anything for her loved ones were the pillars of her character, making her an irreplaceable presence in their lives.

As a member of the Baptist Church, her faith was a guiding light, reflecting her compassionate and caring nature. She knew God and was baptized into new life at an early age. She committed her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and tried to live in a manner in which He taught, reflecting and embodying a life of love and selfless sacrifice for her family, her friends, and others.

Andrea will be dearly missed by her family and her friends but will be remembered in happiness as she had lovingly requested.
