Hampton Edwin Stallworth passed away Monday, July 25, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Interment will be private in Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jack Gregory and Rev. Ron Watson will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Mr. Stallworth, the son of the late James Edwin and Mamie Pace Stallworth was born May 7, 1919, in McRae, Georgia. His wife, Ella Mae Brewer Stallworth and his daughters, Jannis Nix and Annette Mate preceded him in death. He was retired from Robins Air Force and was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving during World War II. He served in North Africa, India and Burma and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with two bronze stars, after spending three years behind Japanese enemy lines. Mr. Stallworth was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. Survivors include his sister, Maxine Hardwick of Macon; sons-in-law, Ralph Nix of Macon and Brian Mate of Blue Ridge, Georgia; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Morningside Baptist Church, 3519 Jeffersonville Road, Macon, GA 31217.
