James Clayton “Jim” Mitchem passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. His wishes were to be cremated. There will be no service.
Mr. Mitchem was born October 2, 1944, in Macon, Georgia. His father, Clayton Marvin Mitchem, his mother, Frances Samuel Mitchem Herin and his step-father, Arthur Herin preceded him in death. He retired from Duni Corporation, as a purchasing agent and was presently employed with the Monroe County Board of Education as a bus driver.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Myrle Sheffield Mitchem of Forsyth; son, Keith Mitchem of Forsyth; grandchildren, Alex Mitchem, Jamie Mitchem, Justin Siegal and Lauren Levin Mitchem; brothers David (Pam) Mitchem of Atlanta and Wayne (Connie) Herin of Tifton.
The family requests no flowers but suggests donations to Save A Pet, Post Office Box 933, Forsyth, Ga 31029.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
