Marion Gore Joseph

Forsyth . . .  Marion Elizabeth Gore Joseph passed away Monday, December 28, 2015.  Visitation is Friday, January 1, 2016 at the Forsyth United Methodist Church at 10AM. Funeral services will be held at the church at 11:00 AM., with burial to follow in Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens. Rev. Darris Baker will officiate. Mrs. Joseph, the daughter of James and Lucille Gore was born August 21, 1934 in Milledgeville, Ga.  Her husband of 41 years, Louis R. Joseph, Jr. preceded her in death. Mrs. Joseph worked at Southern Bell.  She also worked many years at Joseph’s Department Store.  From there, she worked at Monroe County Hospital and then with Drs.  Smith and Grant in Forsyth.  She was active in the Pioneers and Monroe County Hospital Auxiliary. She also served on the Fort Hawkins Commission and raised money to build a school in Honduras with Compassion International. She traveled to that country twice. She was an active member of the Forsyth United Methodist Church. Survivors include her children, Louis (Susan) Joseph III and Michael (April) Joseph, Sr.  Her grandchildren are Beth Joseph, Louis Joseph, Michael Joseph, Jr. and Daniel Joseph. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Forsyth United Methodist Church, 68 West Johnson Street, Forsyth, GA 31029 www.forsythumc.org. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
