Richard (Rik) Edmund Clifton  Born: October 20, 1944 - DelawareDied: October 13, 2015 – Monroe County  Culloden . . . Richard (Rik) died October 13, 2015, following an accident on his farm at Russellville, Monroe County, Georgia. His wishes were to be cremated with no service and his ashes scattered on his beloved farm.   The Sunday prior to his death, he became a member of the Russellville Baptist Church, where he was active in the video and music departments.  Rik was the son of Edgar Calhoun Clifton of Delaware, and Vera Carolyn Abercrombie of Culloden, Georgia. He is survived by one brother, Edgar Conrad Clifton and Sister-in-Law, Diehl Jensen Clifton, both of Forsyth, Georgia.  Rik graduated High School from Gordon Military College in Barnesville, Georgia, and college, Thomas University in Thomasville, Georgia.  He served for four years in the United States Navy, was a member of the Plank Crew on the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy Air Craft Carrier when it was commissioned, and was a Vietnam Veteran.  Rik retired from the Department of Avionics, Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia.  After retirement from the Base, he established a horse farm on family property at Russellville.  He was an active member of the City of Culloden Volunteer Fire Department, and a support member of Monroe County Fire Department at the Russellville Station.  The farm has been deeded by Rik with a Life Tenancy to the Georgia Sheriff's Youth Homes Foundation. The family requests no flowers but suggests donations to Save A Pet, Post Office Box 933, Forsyth GA 31029. Monroe County Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements.
