Helon Abercrombie McDuffie Forsyth . . . Helon Juanita Abercrombie McDuffie passed away Friday, July 31, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2015, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 656 Roscoe Road, Newnan, Georgia 30263. Rev. Jerry Brooks and Rev. Tom Brooks will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at Monroe County Memorial Chapel. Mrs. McDuffie, the daughter of the late Athan Smith Abercrombie and Inez Freeman Abercrombie, was born April 29, 1927, in Carroll County, Georgia. Her husband, Oscar Lamar McDuffie and her sister, Ruby Oveda Hester preceded her in death. She was a retired textile worker and a member of Good Hope Pentecostal Church. Mrs. McDuffie was devoted to her animals and was an avid gardener. Survivors include her brother, Charles William Abercrombie of Newnan; nieces, Rhonda Hester of Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Laura Hester of Colorado, Paige A. Yearta of Franklin, Georgia and Veronica Smith of Newnan; and nephew, Kevin Abercrombie of Newnan.
