James P Stevens

James Stevens (a.k.a. Steve), 81, passed away Tuesday May 5, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in San Diego. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, at Monroe County Memorial Chapel with burial following in Monroe Hills Memorial Gardens, Hwy. 41. James is preceded in death by both parents and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Julia Waldrep Stevens; daughters, Susan Stevens Crosby and Kate Stammetti; three grandchildren, Gregory, Christina and Kevin; and four great grandchildren. Also missing him are sisters, Nita Offerman and Kathy Fluty; son-in-laws, Louis and Vince; sister-in-laws, Nancy Waldrep Fussell, Sarilois Waldrep Estes and their families. James served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for Teledyne Ryan Aeronautical Company until his retirement after 42 years. He had a passion for flying, sailing and gardening. James so enjoyed a family gathering in Forsyth last August and couldn't wait for another to be arranged; so please join us while we celebrate his life.
